Still Coming Along...

This week we began looking more closely at the continent of North America which is designated with the color orange on the Montessori globe.  I look forward to presenting some new materials and lessons in the coming weeks having to do with this continent study.  We also maintained a steady pace with practice of lessons and new presentations throughout our mornings together.  Here are some snapshots of our days together (a bit fewer than usual due to the shortened week):

Making a collage for 'North America' with orange paper cuttings.

A lesson with the Decimal System Cards.

Using the Spindle Boxes.

Color and picture matching.

Puzzle Map of the World.

Linear and skip counting with all of the Short Bead Chains and squares.

Shaping the continent of North America with play dough.

Math work with the Cards and Counters.

Practical Life:  Sponging - the kids like the pumpkin bowls.

Coloring a Map of the World.

Tracing shapes with the Geometric Demonstration Tray.

Balancing marbles on golf tees.

Working with the Bead Chain papers.

Using the Number Rods.

Threading autumn (craft) leaves on a ribbon.

An extension activity with the Cards and Counters.

Careful fine motor practice with the water dropper.

Preparation for writing and with the Botany Cabinet.

Matching the Geometric Solids to their bases.

Working with the Pink Tower and Brown Stair.

Using the Teen Beads to make 11, 12, and 13.

  1. I really love the balancing golf tees activity. I'm going to have to put one of those together for my classroom! Thanks.
