So Much Happening...

so few pictures!  While I'm glad to share photos of activities in the classroom, I must admit that it is impossible to capture everything.  First of all, while taking pictures, I try to remain as unobtrusive as possible so as not to distract from the learning that is happening.  I would rather not take a photo than ruin "a moment" by going to fetch the camera!  Thankfully, the children are used to seeing me with my camera and are not distracted by it.  Here is our weekly round-up of photos:

Odd and even numbers with Cards and Counters.

Tactile discrimination with the Touch Boards.

Transferring with chopsticks.

Pink Tower/Brown Stair work.

Teen Boards and Beads

Discovery - a new perspective of the Pink Tower!

Teen Bead Hanger

Another discovery with the Brown Stair  - "Look, I made a curve!"

Continent Stamps:  Asia

Visual discrimination of size with the Knobless Cylinders.

Addition with the Number Rods.

Letter sound/symbol 't.'

Refinement of the Olfactory sense with the Smelling Bottles.

Exploration with the Red Rods.

Matching distance memory game with the Color Tablets.

Working with the Baric Tablets - feeling varying weights.

More Pink Tower/Brown Stair work.

Writing practice.

Continent Folders - Asia.

Addition facts with the Addition Strip Board.

Tactile discrimination and writing preparation with the Touch Boards.

Introduction to the Decimal System - counting the one hundred with the ten bar.

Writing preparation - Tracing shapes of the Geometric Demonstration Tray.

Tracing the Botany Cabinet leaf shapes with a stylus.

Visual discrimination of size - Solid Cylinders.

  1. Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for showing so many activities using the Montessori Materials. It's my goal to purchase a couple each month (budget friendly way), but am so overwhelmed by all of the wonderful materials. I don't know which ones to start with first, or what subject for that matter! I've been making my own materials for my little kids and slowly easing into the Montessori Method. You can see all of our fun Montessori inspired activities at our blog http://everystarisdifferent.blogspot.com. And if you do have any recommendations as to which materials to start out with and what subject I would LOVE your suggestions!
